My job is a nightmare sometimes
I had picked up an indigent(not claimed) from the coroners office. He had not been posted and was wrapped in a plastic sheet. The case report said he’d been down for a bit before he was found. Nothing out of the ordinary.
We drive along in my van for a time until I had to stop at the local health dept to drop off some DC’s. When I’m done I get back into the van and start up the engine. Before I can get into gear I notice a movement in the periphery of my sight. I look down and see a large shiny back spider climbing up my leg. I try to swat it off an it dissapered between my legs. Panic sets in as I jump out of the idling can and try to find it and brush it off. After about a minute of looking foolish in the middle of the street I see it fall to the ground and scurry under one of the wheels. Feeling relived I get back in to the van and immediately regret doing so. It seems that several of the spiders relatives decided to take up residence in the gentleman’s mouth and now that they weren’t under refrigeration they thought that they’d come out and enjoy the day.
I really couldn’t wait to wake up. A quick reality check told me that I wasn’t asleep. I really hate spiders. -

I clumsily fumbled for the key to the back entrance of the funeral home. Blindly searching for the light switch inside, I became aware of a low whisper. Upon flipping the switch, I realized the noise was coming from the occupied stretcher. Frightened, yet intrigued, I unzipped the bag on the stretcher and found a tape recorder playing a chant. Relief swept over me; everything was as it should be.

The other night we picked up a deceased gentleman and embalmed him. A few days later the spouse comes in and during the arrangement she asks if we can bury his pet cat with him.
“Sure, just bring in the ashes and we’ll put them in the casket with him”.
“The cat’s still alive”
“Excuse me?”
“Yes, it’s still alive.I was wondering if you could pick it up and euthanize it for me. It was his favorite cat”.She was quite serious. She was worried that we might charge a second removal fee to pick up it up. She couldn’t understand why we refused to kill the cat.
NO, we stopped doing that a few millennium ago.
